PROFESSIONAL TRAINING COLLEGE / DIPLOMA STUDY

Professional Training College (senmon gakkou) are education institute that are intended for the advancement of professional knowledge and skill that are beneficial for work and daily life.

 

Duration of study ranges from 1 to 4 years with the average of 2 years (dependent to the selected major/field). Available majors or field of study varies from: medical and health, hospitality, art, engineering, culture, education, industry and trading, social welfare, administration, agriculture, and many more. Professional Training College program are not available in English, thus prospective students are required to be proficient in Japanese in the level of N3 to N1 (dependent to the selected major/field).

Requirements

  • Prospective student has finished 12 years of obligatory basic education (6 years of Primary School, 3 years of Middle School, and 3 years of High School). Graduates from Indonesia or overseas are all considered eligible.
  • Prospective student is required to be at least 18 years old.
  • Possess legal and official high school diploma certificate.
  • Students who finishes school less than 12 years (10 - 11 years), however has finished "Preparatory Class for University Enrollment" program in assigned institution are considered eligible.
  • Students who are qualified in "The International Baccalaureate" or "The Abitur in Germany" are considered eligible.
  • Students who are graduated from foreign institution that are approved by WASC, ACSI, or ECIS are eligible.
  • Prospective students who possess High School Diploma and has certified 'Passed' in entrance test for college 

 

Apart from the requirements above, proficiency in Japanese language is also mandatory, in which can be proven by:

  • Has attended Japanese language class in institution acknowledged by Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education (APJLE) for at least 6 months.
  • Certified with N2 to N1 level of Japanese language proficiency test held by Japan Educational Exchanges and Services and The Japan Foundation.
  • Students who studied in Primary, Middle, or High School in Japan for at least 1 year is also considered eligible.
  • Passed the 'Japanese as a Foreign Language' subject in EJU (Examination for Japanese University) Admission for International Students with the score above 200 points.

Document Requirements

 

Confirm intake schedule and procedure to the desired college or institution. Required documents can vary between one college with another. However the requirements in general are such as:

  1. Application Form (provided by College or School).
  2. High School Diploma Certificate.
  3. Grade Records.
  4. Attendance and grade records from Japanese language school (for applicants who has previously enrolled to Japanese language school in Japan).
  5. Certificate of Japanese language proficiency (for overseas applicants).
  6. Health Certificate or Medical Records.
  7. Newest photo.
  8. Financial Guarantor related documents (if necessary).

Entrance Examination

 

The entrance examination for Professional Training College consists of different section such as: academic exam, essay, documents screening, interview, potential and competency assessment, practical exam, and Japanese language exam. Selection process can be a little different from one college or institution to another, however it generally weighs heavily on the student's objective and purpose of studying, Japanese language proficiency, and sufficient academic qualifications that will affect the efficiency of learning. Motivation is as well an important instrument for the school as a reason to accept a student.
